Rough afternoon...

Well, we had another doctor's appointment this afternoon. I was pretty apprehensive, because another doctor was meeting with us, as my doc is still on vacation...so...
The nurse came in to check my vitals and said my blood pressure was high. This happened last week, but by the end of the appt. it was fine; which is what I told her. I tend to get nervous and anxious when I first get there, and then I calm down. Anyway, we had to wait to see the fill-in doctor, for almost an hour--he obviously has his hands full with all of his own patients AND my doctor's patients. By the time he came in, I was pretty nerve racked and tired of waiting...so, he did his "check" only to reveal that there has been NO change!! I am still only a cm dilated--obviously, Baby doesn't want to make it's debut this week...the doctor did say though, that the baby is about 6 lbs. This makes me happy!! It's not too big!
Upon checking my BP again, the nurse said it was even higher than before. So, not wanting to take any chances, the doctor sent me to the hospital to be monitored, and have some blood work done. Obviously, that was good for the blood pressure! I hate needles! Brad and I were admitted right away. I had to get into a gown and get hooked up to all kind of monitoring devices...fun stuff. Then, they took my blood--and I TRIED to be a big girl about it--thank God, Brad was there...he made me laugh the whole time, and really took my mind off of everything. He is going to be GREAT when I am actually IN LABOR. About 2 hours later, they released me, saying that everything looks just fine.
So, no news, no baby...we will be in touch!

Update...or lack there of...

Well, we had a check-up again this morning, and are still only at 1cm. No change, which is fine, as long as the baby is happy, healthy, head down, and not too big! At this point it is all of those, which is a blessing! Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Having the baby on it's due date (June 22) would be ideal, as Dr. Barcio is going to be in and out until then, on vacation. Not to worry, she has left us in very good hands, in case the baby wants to come sooner...but, I would still like HER to deliver this baby. I have a very good chance of delivering LATE, rather than early. My mom was always at least a few days late, as was my sister. My doctor says this is a pretty good indicator for me, but we can never be sure. I will let you know more, when I do. I know it's in God's hands...

summer has officially begun...

Well, I am officially done with school...I wrapped up inservice yesterday, and today was my 1st full day at home. I am feeling a little bit sad at saying my goodbyes to teaching and my friends at Trinity...but I will see everyone at church, which is what makes Lutheran teaching such a blessing. I kept very busy all day today. I had an OBGYN check up this morning; I am 1 cm dilated. That could mean anything, so I am just making sure I am ready to go at any given moment. I have all of the baby clothes washed, and the room is organized, the car seat dock is installed, and I am almost completely packed up for the hospital stay. Now, it's just a waiting game. Tomorrow, I am going to try and spend some time at the pool, and do some reading. These are the treasured activities of summers past, that I know I will miss, once Little Davis arrives. Although, life is going to be blessed in so many new ways, maybe I won't even notice.
Brad and I are SO excited! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We will keep you posted!

If anyone is still looking to buy any baby gifts--there are many items left on our Babies r'Us registry. We have recieved just about everything on our Target list (THANKS EVERYONE!!!) and people keep asking... Just search for "Jennifer" or "Brad" Davis of "Cypress" at the babiesrus.com home page. Keep us in your prayers these last few weeks...Baby Davis will be here before you know it!!

About 5 weeks to go...

Well, I had another appointment yesterday. Things again look, "Just about perfect." I argued that my feet definitely dont seem "perfect." They are so swollen by the end of every day--I cannot wear any shoes! The doc says I need to stay off of them...yeah, that isn't how teaching really works. Although, I will say, my students have been GREAT about letting me sit, and running errands for me. I have about 9 days left of the school year...and then, I can follow doctor's orders and actually get off my feet and chill before the baby comes! Can I just say, I am SOOOOOOO excited about meeting this baby! I know that sounds silly, but I am just in awe of the miracle of pregnancy, and bringing a child into this world! God is amazing!

Baby shower!

Oh My! We got so many useful and adorable things at the shower yesterday. Let me 1st say that my hostesses were awesome! Hill, Nat, Meg, Hol, and Rachel--THANKS for all you did! I feel so blessed to have you girls in my life!
So...our front room is FULL of baby stuff and I have NO idea WHERE I will put it all. I have to say, I am most excited about the carseat, for some silly reason! I am also pretty pumped about the snap-n-go stroller! What a great invention! I am pretty sure I will need to return a few duplicate gifts, and use my gift cards for a few necessities, but overall, I am so glad my guests stuck to the registry--it's so much easier, when people get you what you know you need, rather than just buying random things because they are cute...let's face it, all baby stuff is cute, but that doesnt mean I NEED it! haha!
Anyway, 8 mos, pregnant today, and just got back from the OBGYN...things are all looking "perfect" according to my doctor! I am getting more excited (and uncomfortable) by the second! I cannot wait to meet this baby!

excited!

I am so excited about the baby shower today! We have over 40 people RSVP'd; which might be the biggest baby shower I have ever attended. What a blessing, to be so loved, and for so many people to be so anxiously awaiting our new little family member! I will update again, after the shower, and let you know how it all goes! These are pics of the nursery...

Last Trimester...

Yup! I made it to the last trimester! I am pretty excited! I have about 12 weeks to go! I am astounded at how HARD it is for Brad and I to decide on a name for our baby. It's REALLY DIFFICULT to name a child! I cannot sleep lately, worrying about what our baby's name will be--I know that sounds ridiculous--but I have this overwhelming urge to have things all "settled." I guess it's part of that nesting instinct everyone talks about. Brad and my little brother, Drew, have been working on our back patio the past few weekends and I must say it looks awesome! I will be so grateful for that wonderful outdoor space when it comes time to throw backyard birthday parties! I have about 35 days left of school...no, I am not anxious or anything...(:

100 days till Baby Davis arrives!!!

Yup! We are down to 100 days! I am on spring break this week (holy cow, a million hoorays, could not have come at a better time, I was going crazy), so I plan to get a lot done. My mom will be up for a few days, since Brad does not get spring break at his big boy job...Mom will help me get the nursery all ready to go, so Brad can put that crib together! I am so excited! Wednesday, I plan to do a little shopping with Hilliary, who is also on spring break! I cannot wait for some girl time! Thursday we have tickets to to Houston Livestock show and rodeo, to see Pat Green! Heck yeah! I am so excited! I hope the baby enjoys it's 1st concert! I plan to relax as much as possible, for the rest of spring break--although it seems I have really booked myself pretty busy. Either way, the countdown is ON! School is out in like 10 weeks, once I get back!! That REALLY makes me SMILE!
