Easter
Yes, I know...I am really late posting Easter pics. Needless to say, life has been busy...or Mommy has been lazy; you choose.
We had a lovely celebration of our risen Lord and Saviour! We started the day in church, and came home to cook a lovely Easter feast. We were joined for lunch by Uncle Drew and Aunt Mimi, and after lunch, we enjoyed a variety of desserts, and then wrapped up the day with Brooke's 1st Easter egg hunt! She did GREAT! Without any practice or training, she somehow knew just what to do! We were so proud.
It is in these precious moments that we again realize just how blessed we are to be raising our precious girl. God is so good! May you delight in His victory over death, and the precious gift of life, which we now receive!
Till next time...hugs,
Jenn*Brad*Brooke

Spring time in Texas!
One of the many joys of living in Texas is spring time, when all of the GORGEOUS bluebonnets start to bloom, and you can take your kids, and plop them down in a field of flowers, on a nice day, and try and try to get the perfect Texas Bluebonnet picture! My first attempt at doing so this season, was on Friday April 1st. We ventured out to Creekside Park in the Woodlands, with some of our very favorite church friends, and took lots of pictures in the flowers. Brooke did not exactly enjoy it (I cannot imagine why), but she eventually cooperated, somewhat. As much as Brooke would hope otherwise, this will not be last photo session in the bluebonnets for this season. Although the bluebonnets in the Woodlands were nice, EVERYONE knows that the BEST Texas bluebonnets are in Washington County...and very soon we will head out to Chappel Hill for Bluebonnet pics, Round 2!Monday, March 28, 2011

Thoughts on the "terrible twos"

So, since Christmas, we have been busy. Brooke is growing and changing, and she still amazes me daily. My heart just swells with love and pride when I look at her--I still cannot believe what a sweet miracle she is...
As we near her 2nd birthday, a little attitude is emerging, and I can see that the so-called "terrible twos" will not be bypassing our little darling. She is not above throwing herself on the ground at a moment's notice, when and if she does not get her way. I handle this as any good mother would, by laughing...
You see, I am determined to not let this tiny little person get the best of me. I am determined to always be the adult in the situation, and to try and appreciate this new stage of independence and strong willed behavior, as one of the many wonderful, albeit, trying stages of our precious daughter's life. After all, I want her to be strong willed. I want her to stand her ground and stick to her guns. I want her to form opinions and decide what's for her, and what is not. I want her to be outgoing and persevering...not taking no for an answer...at least I think I do. Right?
So, as I was saying... I am going to embrace the terrible twos, taking advantage of teachable moments and the humor in every situation, all the while showing her the understanding, patience, and unconditional love that our Father in heaven shows us all, each and every day.
We will just say that somedays are better than others and leave it at that...

It's a new year...
We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas. It is crazy to think that Brooke has already been here long enough to celebrate 2 Christmases...it's going so fast.
We were so busy for so many weeks, it feels weird to finally be slowing down. On the other hand, it's kind of sad...it's all over, until next year.
Okay, so here is the run-down: Christmas '09 vs. Christmas '10

December!
It's December, and it seems to have come out of nowhere! Things have been so busy, and not to sound cliche'--it's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas. As promised, I doubled up on Christmas decor, and despite the tree we will get THIS WEEKEND, the house looks wonderful. Brad even helped me with the lights outside. Brooke was very excited when she saw them for the 1st time. We took her around a few neighborhoods to look at lights last Saturday, although there are not a lot out yet, and it was such a joy to see it all through her eyes...for the 1st time! Christmas is going to be SO fun!
Speaking of Brooke, she is SO busy these days. She scurries this direction, and that, doing what I can only imagine, is very important business. She carries her baby around a lot lately, rocking and patting it, and laying it down for naps. She won't leave the house without her jewelry, and sunglasses. She dances all day long, to every tune she hears...it's the cutest! Most importantly, she repeats like a parrot.
Favorite words this month are: "Doo Durl" (good girl), "Da-DEEE" (daddy), "Dack Ack" (bad cat), and "Pee ee" (pretty). She also makes great horse and kitty cat sounds. It's hilarious!
She is becoming such a precious little girl, and we are so thankful, every day, for the joy that she brings to our lives.
Here's hoping you all find time to slow down and enjoy the season...
