Brooke's 1st Christmas!

We had a VERY blessed 1st Christmas with our beautiful daughter. We woke up and opened presents, got dressed and went to church, had a nice family breakfast, and then spent a great day having family time...just the 3 of us. It was a wonderful day.

God has blessed us SO much this past year, and we look forward to a new year of blessings, special moments, challenges, surprises, and God's unchanging grace and love. To all of the special people in our lives, both far and near, God bless! Have a wonderful 2010! We hope to see you soon...

Christmas w/the Davises...

We had the Davis Family Christmas on Christmas Eve, this year. We had a great time seeing almost the ENTIRE Davis family. Aunt Kristen cooked a wonderful meal, and everyone enjoyed opening a mountain of gifts. Brooke was hugged and kissed all day long, and enjoyed tasting mashed potatoes! Early Christmas Celebrations...

With the holidays upon us, Brooke has really enjoyed some quality time w/ friends & family...and a few presents, too! We celebrated with Aunt Megan and Uncle Walt (Brooke's Godparents) on Friday the 18th, and then celebrated with the ENTIRE Wied family the next day. Brooke got LOTS of fun toys and a beautiful charm bracelet! To be honest, though, she really liked the wrapping paper best! Here are just a few pictures of the fun!

New Menu Items...

Brooke has been trying some solid foods! So far everything has been a hit! She has eaten oatmeal, green beans, bananas, and applesauce. She looks SO cute in her high chair! Enjoy the pics!

Visiting Santa...

We took Brooke to see Santa last weekend. He came to our neighborhood rec center, so it was very convenient. As far as Brooke's reaction, it was pretty much the same as it is w/ any new person...Brooke smiled and cooed and charmed him, right away--everyone thought she was the most precious little thing!

She has become a pretty easy-going little girl. She finds ways to entertain herself, and keep busy. She sucks her thumb now, when she starts to cry, and calms down all by herself! I am most impressed by bed time. She willingly goes to her crib around 9 every night, and without a tear or even a whine...falls asleep ON HER OWN! She sleeps through the night, and doesn't wake Mommy until around 7. I usually find her playing quietly in her crib, talking to her mobile. It is SUCH a blessing to have such a sweet baby to love and care for. I feel like my blessings quadrupled the day she was born!

Brooke is learning new things every day. Her new trick is getting into the crawling position and rocking back and forth! She still "crawls" with her knees, but has yet to coordinate those hands. She is getting pretty quick, and we are learning to keep things she shouldn't have, out of her vicinity. We are anxiously awaiting Christmas, as Brooke has a new found affinity for crinkling paper--opening presents should be fun!!
Weighing in at 15 pounds and 9 ounces...she is growing and changing daily!

These are just a few more pics from Brooke's first Thanksgiving celebrations. We were EXTRA thankful this year, to have her in our lives to love and care for--she is truly our greatest blessing!

The 1st Thanksgiving...

We celebrated Brooke's 1st Thanksgiving twice...once with the Wieds and once with the Johnsons (Davises). The weekend before Thanksgiving, we were in Elgin, feasting on Cajun fried turkey and all the fixin's. Brooke enjoyed the quality time with her cousins and her grandparents. Mommy and Daddy barely held Brooke at all...there were so many willing arms around!
On Thanksgiving Day, we traveled to Wortham, to go to Brad's Uncle Tom's house. Brooke met Great Uncle Tom and Great Aunt Spring (and cousin Cal) for the 1st time, ever. We enjoyed a sunny day with Gran and Gramps, and also Big Daddy, Uncle Britt, and cousin Grant. The food was wonderful, and the hugs and kisses were abundant.

Fall fever...

Fall has arrived. The cooler weather feels nice, but we are SO thankful it is not too cold! Texas falls are the best! Brooke is growing and changing so much. She is always smiling, and brings a smile to everyone's face...strangers are always telling me how sweet and beautiful she is.
She has mastered rolling and now likes to log roll, to get to new places. She also has discovered that her knees can get her from point A to point B, which is funny, because she doesn't have her arms coordinated yet. She grabs everything within reach, and arches her back to get things that aren't. Current favorites are: the exersaucer, fingers and toes, and surprisingly, her crib! I am thrilled to announce that she has slept through the night for 4 nights straight! I don't know how long this will last, but I am certainly enjoying the extra rest!
We are looking forward to the upcoming holidays and times with family. If you haven't come to see us lately, give us a call, or drop by...Brooke loves company!

Another few 1sts...

This weekend was a busy one. Mommy's birthday was Thursday. We had a fun day shopping and enjoying chocolate cake. Friday, Daddy had the day off, and he had out-of-town friends come visit. Saturday morning, Mommy and Brooke had a great time at the Schleicher's Tiny Tot Costume Party, and we enjoyed the trick-or-treaters on Saturday night. On Sunday, GeeMa and PawPaw came to town to take Mommy out for her birthday. Brooke's 1st experience at the Hibachi grill was pretty cute. The fire scared her and she cried...but only for a little bit. GeeMa and PawPaw spent the whole day spoiling Brooke...as usual.

Mommy's birthday

4 Month Check Up(dates)...

Brooke had her 4 month check up on Tuesday the 27th. She is now 14 pounds and 5 1/2 ounces, and 25 inches long. She is in the 66th percentile for weight, and the 69th for height. Dr. M was very impressed with her milestones...she can roll over from tummy to back and back to tummy, she can grab objects and switch them to the other hand, and she is forever on the move, arching her back and craning her neck to make sure she doesn't miss anything. As is becoming the trend, Brooke only cried a little bit when she got her shots, and Mommy cried big time.

Life around the Davis household is really starting to settle down. Brooke is somewhat more predictable, and she is definitely sleeping better. She spends a good amount of time entertaining herself, instead of needing Mommy and Daddy to entertain her. She laughs when we play peek-a-boo, and squeals & kicks when she gets excited.

Every moment with her is a reminder of how great our God is, and what a heap of blessings He has given us.
