Family Christmas Photos w/Rhonda Hinote

Our newest family photos turned out great! Thanks to Rhonda Hinote Photography! She did a great job...and we are so thankful for her friendship.
Merry Christmas one and all!!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Greetings to All!
Big changes are on the horizon around the Davis house, and I have found that slowing down and reflecting on the wonder of God's Perfect Gift, is the only way to keep my sanity, lately.
I am now just over 35 weeks pregnant. That gives us about 5 weeks until the due date...if we make it!! At my most recent appointment, the doctor said there is a big possibility that the baby will be early. The baby is already in position--and I am carrying it very low! Of course this freaks me out! I cannot wait to meet the baby, of course, but I also know that carrying it to term (40 weeks) is what is best! So, the doc has mandated lots and lots of rest...which I am TRYING to stick to! This obviously makes the wedding a big question mark. I am still hoping to go, and have turned it over to God, who knows the desires of my heart. I know He has a plan...
Prayers for a healthy baby, and a near-40-week delivery would be MUCH appreciated!
And before we can really concentrate on our new baby, there is another baby we all need to focus on. The one that came to save the world! May you be blessed as you reflect on the precious gift of Jesus this Christmas season!
Lots of Love!

At Miller Outdoor Theatre

Brooke's favorite past-time!

Mommy and baby (and Brooke) at 28 weeks....

Been awhile...

Yes, I know, it's been a LONG time since I've updated. I guess I have just been busy being the pregnant mom of a two year old...and let me tell you, it's a busy life! Brooke is growing and changing so much, it's amazing! She talks a LOT, and has her own opinions about everything. I am amazed at what she picks up, honestly. I am so thankful for the SWEETHEART that she is--because I know the 2's could be so much worse. Her favorite things of the here and now are as follows:
Mommy
Her baby dolls
Watching SPROUT before bed time
Painting with paint brushes
Choosing her own outfits
Sleeping in her "big bed"
Having her whole family in one room
Talking to Mommy's tummy
Sliding (quite possibly her favorite thing of all!--she calls it "going fweeee!")
I am now roughly 31 weeks pregnant, and getting bigger as we speak. It won't be long before we are a family of FOUR! I am exhausted, as I barely sleep these days, thanks to lots of little kicks and punches, and frequent bathroom trips. I am SO thankful that I get opportunities to rest during the days. I will wrap up my semester in about 3 weeks, and although I have GREAT classes this semester, I cannot WAIT! I am just SO tired!
Brad is busy as always at work...he is looking forward to the wedding festivities in the upcoming weeks, associated with Tim's wedding. Heck, let's call a spade a spade, he is excited for the bachelor party in New Orleans, in early December!
We are SO THANKFUL this time of year (and always!) for the beautiful life God has blessed us with.
May you all be richly blessed,
J, B, B, and B

Tiny Dancer

Brooke did a "try it out" dance class with her friend Kayla, a few weeks back. She is not quite old enough to join the class, yet, but next fall, we will definitely enroll her! She loved it! Her favorite part? The tap shoes--of course!!

New pics of my growing tummy...at 20 weeks and at 24 weeks. :)

Trying on pretty dresses!

As many of you know, Brooke will be the flower-girl at Natalie and Tim's wedding, in January. Here are some pics from the day we went to try on flower girl dresses...

Blessings...

We were so happy to see a VERY healthy, absolutely BEAUTIFUL baby at our 20 week ultra sound. Brooke and Brad both got to come, and it was a wonderful day for our family! We are so excited to announce that the measurements and progress were both perfect, and right on schedule. This is week 22, so we now have over half of the pregnancy behind us. We are so excited to welcome this new angel into our family...Brooke is already THE proudest big sister around!
Please keep us all in your prayers as we await the big arrival...

Quick update...

Well, summer is dwindling, and as sad as I am to see my warm sunshine go, we ARE in the middle of a record-breaking heat wave, and winter (as much as I dread it) means that baby #2 will be here! Hooray!!
Speaking of Baby, he/she is doing great. The doc says the pregnancy is "perfectly normal"--which is GREAT NEWS in the pregnancy world. The baby has started noticeable movement, which is SO wonderful! I cannot wait to share it with Brooke and Brad as the baby gets bigger. Brad, Brooke and I WILL find out the baby's gender on Sept. 6th. We are very excited. Whether we will SHARE the news still remains to be decided...
Brooke is busy busy busy. She is quite a chatterbox, and repeats EVERYTHING. She is mostly a good girl, with an occasional "terrible 2" fit! We have made the most of our final days of summer, visiting indoor play places, doing projects at home, playing in the water, and getting out some "big girl toys" I had put away awhile back. The big news is that Brooke's big girl room is all ready to go, for when she moves in, this fall. GeeMa and I got everything painted and put together a few weeks back. Brooke is THRILLED with the results, and loves to play in her new space! For the time being, she is very territorial about the nursery, which is still technically her room, and will not let me move her clothes out of the drawers or closet. Our plan is to move her in October.
Brad is seriously busy at work, as well as home. We have been marking things off of our "honey do" list, each weekend. Amazing how the list never seems to get any shorter.
I start school on Monday, and will be teaching every Mon/Wed, this semester. I have two full classes of 25...which means I will be busy when paper time rolls around. Brooke will have a new baby sitter this fall...our old one graduated and left for college. We REALLY like the "new girl" and think she is going to be a great fit for us. God heard our prayers when he brought her to us.
I will post pictures of the new room soon. In the meantime, keep us in your prayers, as big changes are on the horizon.
Hugs and Love!

Summer updates...

Okay, so here's the latest from our summer:
We took 2 mini vacations to the hill country lakes. The 1st one, over Memorial Day weekend, to Lake Buchanan. We stayed in a cabin with the Poehlmann family and had LOTS of fun playing in the lake, grilling, and fishing. The 2nd one was over 4th of July weekend. We went to Inks Lake, just our family, and had a BLAST jet skiing!

Jenn has just finished her summer school session, and is now "off" until the fall semester begins on Aug. 29th. Hopefully teaching college pregnant goes as smoothly as teaching 5th grade did.

Brad has been working like crazy to keep our lawn GREEN during this drought. Not to mention working HARD at work, after a co-worker was put in the hospital. No rest for the weary...

Brooke is taking on the role of two-year-old with ease! She can be so sassy, and definitely likes things her way--but at the end of the day, she is still our sweet girl, who loves her Mommy and Daddy very much. She is talking up a storm, and doing lots more independently. She can put on her own shoes, undress completely, open bedroom doors, climb up and down the stairs, brush her hair, rinse the shampoo out of it, and get her own snack from the fridge (with permission or not)! She is going to be a GREAT big sister!

Baby #2 is still growing bigger and stronger each day. Our next appointment will be on July 28th, just as the 2nd trimester begins! We have big plans for moving Brooke out of the nursery, by the end of August, to make room for Baby. Please keep our baby in your prayers, as he/she grows, and we get closer and closer to the big arrival. Some time in early September, we will be able to find out if this baby is a boy or a girl...

Hugs to all,

Baby's turning two...

I cannot, cannot, cannot believe it, but Brooke will be two in just 4 short days!! The two years of precious time with her has literally flown by, and I am so proud of the happy, smart, kind-hearted little girl she has become. I am thankful for everyone in our "village" -- helping us over the past two years, to care for and raise our little darling. Mostly, I am thankful for God's grace, and the infinite amount of patience he has granted, as we have navigated the uncharted waters of parenting. I know we are EONS from being finished (and for that I am so very grateful)--but two years just seems so huge! Brooke is a little girl! Not a newborn, or an infant, or a baby, or a toddler...a little girl.
In honor of her big day on Saturday, here is the rundown of Brooke's day to day life:
She is a sweetie...she now tells Daddy and I "Yove You" whenever she hears us say it. She gives "hugs and love" to anyone who asks, blows kisses after saying "bye bye" and likes to be rocked for a few minutes before nap and bed time.
She is a helper...she LOVES to help Mommy unload the dishwasher, sort and fold laundry, swiffer the floors, turn off the TV and lights when we leave a room, and lock and unlock the car.
She is rambunctious...she loves to run in the sprinkler, climb the stairs, dance dance dance, spin in circles till she's dizzy, play "Ring around the Rosies," and swim at the big pool.
She is social...time with friends is her favorite! She gets so excited to see her friend Connor who lives next door, and the 2 jump up and down squealing when they reunite. She loves playdates with her friends from church, sharing toys and snacks in church, and meeting other kids at the pool and park.
She is  dare devil...She is not afraid of anything. She has no problem putting her face in the water at the pool, climbing to the top of the biggest slides and sliding down alone, she seems to think she is much older, and will try anything!
She is a little Mommy...she loves to rock and pat her babies, change their clothes, wrap them up in blankets, feed them, give them baths, and cover them in kisses.
She loves to sing...her favorite songs are "Twinkle Twinkle..." and "Jesus Loves Me" but she also loves to sing along with radio songs, sing the "Hot Dog Song" and repeat anything that Mommy sings.
She is our pride and joy!...we could not feel more blessed watching her grow and getting to share her with the world. She is our little miracle and we love her so.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Brooke Camille Davis!!!

Growing...

Yes, if you haven't heard the news already, we are expecting another little Davis! God is so good, and we are so excited! Thanks to everyone who was praying for us during the "trying" phase...God has seen fit to make us parents again! We are expecting our precious new gift around January 26th. With a long road ahead, and so much to do, continued prayers would be appreciated. We love you all!

More from the model shoot

The files are pretty big, so I cannot upload all of the pictures to this site, but Tanya should have some on her website also. Once she places them in a gallery, via the link, you could purchase prints from her, if you would like. She did a really amazing job...the pictures are beautiful.

Can you believe there is less than a month before Brooke turns two??!! Nope, me neither...

Easter

Yes, I know...I am really late posting Easter pics. Needless to say, life has been busy...or Mommy has been lazy; you choose.
We had a lovely celebration of our risen Lord and Saviour! We started the day in church, and came home to cook a lovely Easter feast. We were joined for lunch by Uncle Drew and Aunt Mimi, and after lunch, we enjoyed a variety of desserts, and then wrapped up the day with Brooke's 1st Easter egg hunt! She did GREAT! Without any practice or training, she somehow knew just what to do! We were so proud.
It is in these precious moments that we again realize just how blessed we are to be raising our precious girl. God is so good! May you delight in His victory over death, and the precious gift of life, which we now receive!
Till next time...hugs,
Jenn*Brad*Brooke

Spring time in Texas!

One of the many joys of living in Texas is spring time, when all of the GORGEOUS bluebonnets start to bloom, and you can take your kids, and plop them down in a field of flowers, on a nice day, and try and try to get the perfect Texas Bluebonnet picture! My first attempt at doing so this season, was on Friday April 1st. We ventured out to Creekside Park in the Woodlands, with some of our very favorite church friends, and took lots of pictures in the flowers. Brooke did not exactly enjoy it (I cannot imagine why), but she eventually cooperated, somewhat. As much as Brooke would hope otherwise, this will not be last photo session in the bluebonnets for this season. Although the bluebonnets in the Woodlands were nice, EVERYONE knows that the BEST Texas bluebonnets are in Washington County...and very soon we will head out to Chappel Hill for Bluebonnet pics, Round 2!

Might as well know...

...that this spring, we will be trying for baby #2! We hope and pray that God blesses us with another precious little one, to add to our already abundantly blessed home. Please keep us in your prayers.

Thoughts on the "terrible twos"

You don't have to tell me how long it's been since I have posted anything on this blog...I am well aware that two months have gone by with not a word from The Davis Family. For that, I apologize.
So, since Christmas, we have been busy. Brooke is growing and changing, and she still amazes me daily. My heart just swells with love and pride when I look at her--I still cannot believe what a sweet miracle she is...
As we near her 2nd birthday, a little attitude is emerging, and I can see that the so-called "terrible twos" will not be bypassing our little darling. She is not above throwing herself on the ground at a moment's notice, when and if she does not get her way. I handle this as any good mother would, by laughing...
You see, I am determined to not let this tiny little person get the best of me. I am determined to always be the adult in the situation, and to try and appreciate this new stage of independence and strong willed behavior, as one of the many wonderful, albeit, trying stages of our precious daughter's life. After all, I want her to be strong willed. I want her to stand her ground and stick to her guns. I want her to form opinions and decide what's for her, and what is not. I want her to be outgoing and persevering...not taking no for an answer...at least I think I do. Right?
So, as I was saying... I am going to embrace the terrible twos, taking advantage of teachable moments and the humor in every situation, all the while showing her the understanding, patience, and unconditional love that our Father in heaven shows us all, each and every day.
We will just say that somedays are better than others and leave it at that...

the "Fancy" Christmas pics

Brooke's Christmas dress was just too cute NOT to take pictures in...so, enjoy!
