December!

It's December, and it seems to have come out of nowhere! Things have been so busy, and not to sound cliche'--it's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas. As promised, I doubled up on Christmas decor, and despite the tree we will get THIS WEEKEND, the house looks wonderful. Brad even helped me with the lights outside. Brooke was very excited when she saw them for the 1st time. We took her around a few neighborhoods to look at lights last Saturday, although there are not a lot out yet, and it was such a joy to see it all through her eyes...for the 1st time! Christmas is going to be SO fun!
Speaking of Brooke, she is SO busy these days. She scurries this direction, and that, doing what I can only imagine, is very important business. She carries her baby around a lot lately, rocking and patting it, and laying it down for naps. She won't leave the house without her jewelry, and sunglasses. She dances all day long, to every tune she hears...it's the cutest! Most importantly, she repeats like a parrot.
Favorite words this month are: "Doo Durl" (good girl), "Da-DEEE" (daddy), "Dack Ack" (bad cat), and "Pee ee" (pretty). She also makes great horse and kitty cat sounds. It's hilarious!
She is becoming such a precious little girl, and we are so thankful, every day, for the joy that she brings to our lives.
Here's hoping you all find time to slow down and enjoy the season...

November

Well, it seems that it is November, and the annoying time change is taking a toll on the Davis house. Brooke is sleeping and waking at odd new times, and Mommy and Daddy are oh-so-sleepy. This weekend, poor Brooke, suffered her first stomach bug...what fun. It is so sad to watch someone so tiny, be so sick. She was so scared, and Mommy could not help crying along with her, most of the night. Luckily, it seemed to run its icky course in about 24 hours, and life got back to normal.
Brooke is doing so many fun new things, it's hard to keep up. Her current favorite activities, are: rocking and patting her baby dolls -- playing outside, mostly with the sand and "driving her car" -- trying on Mommy's shoes, and clothes -- emptying and putting shapes back in her shape sorters -- dancing to any music w/in earshot -- playing with other kids, it doesn't really matter if she knows them or not, she LOVES making new friends -- repeating things that Mommy and Daddy say...
This has got to be the cutest thing she does! I love watching her little vocabulary emerge. Some favorite words are: "shiss" (shoes), "ack" (cat), "enk" (drink), "Daida" (Saira), "eeo" (ear), and "Hyee" (Hi)...of course one of her very favorite words is still "Dada" which she says ALL the time.
Looking forward to a very excited little girl, throughout the holidays...
God bless.

Life has been so busy...

It's amazing how busy we've been...recently, I looked at the calendar to find we are well into October. OCTOBER! I cannot believe it. October has always been one of my favorite months...cool mornings, sunny afternoons, less humidity (ie. good hair days), another birthday...
We had a crazy summer. The kind of summer that seemed like it was a year long. We did A LOT. Maybe that is why October snuck up on me...we were so busy with all that summer had to offer, I just kept thinking it was still summer (Texas tends to fool you like that). Turns out, NO; it's fall, and I have nothing done. No fall decorations, no new fall clothes, no candy for trick or treaters, no plans on the calendar... I really need to get with it!
Luckily, Brooke has a few fall outfits from last year, to hold her till I get some shopping done. I suppose decorating for fall is not a must, I will just double up at Christmas. I can always buy candy at the last minute...or give out alternative treats (hmmm, how about outgrown diapers?...pacifiers?...outlet covers?). As for plans, it's kind of nice not having any. Lazy Sundays are a welcome change.

Dancing Car Video

This is a funny video of Brooke dancing in her car. Her favorite fall activity is playing on the patio, in her car, and at her water table. We turn on the radio outside and Brooke cannot help but dance! It's the cutest! She is growing so fast and doing something new EVERY day. It is amazing to watch her learn. She is such a blessing.

Wedding Pics

Here are some picture from Aunt Mimi and Uncle Drew's wedding! Brooke was a sweet little flower girl, in her pretty pink dress. She loved wearing the flowers on her wrist and did NOT enjoy wearing her pretty gold shoes. She even left one of her shoes behind, while walking down the aisle! Our little "Cinderella" was most definitely the CUTEST flower girl I have ever seen. Enjoy the pics!

Fun with Family and Friends...

It has been sooooo long since I last updated! I feel like such a slacker. We have been crazy busy wrapping up the summer of 2010! It was a beautiful summer, culminating with a special addition to the family...Uncle Drew got married to his beautiful new wife, Mimi. We are so excited. Hopefully, I can post some pictures from the wedding soon...(Brooke was the flower girl). Until then, here are a few pics of the fun we have had lately:

Baby Bearkat

Brooke got her 1st SHSU shirt for her birthday, from some dear friends. She was in the best mood the first time she wore it, so I took these fun pictures. Brad and I occasionally muse on the possibility of Brooke actually going off to Sam someday. She would be a 3rd generation Bearkat on my side! For now, we will enjoy the milestones in the here and now...like talking, and climbing. As we watch her little personality emerge, we can see that we have our work cut out for us!

Our family trip to Port Aransas

We took a short but sweet mini vacation to Port Aransas, last weekend. This was the 1st time that Brooke actually got to enjoy the beach...and enjoy it she did! She had so much fun playing in the water and in the sand. She was not afraid of the waves, at all! She played so hard, and completely wore herself (and Mommy and Daddy) out! We also enjoyed dining out, exploring the island, souvenir shopping, and seeing Uncle Walt, Aunt Meg, Marci, JoAnn and Mark!
Sadly, it was over too soon. We look forward to many more years of making memories with our darling girl. Enjoy the pictures...
